The First Week of School

 The day after we got back from Utah, the kids and I started a fresh new year of school.

Rayleigh is in 5th grade with Ms. Genet

Jack is in 4th grade with Mrs. Cervantes

Ella is in 2nd grade with Ms. Phillips

and I have a cute new class of 16 kindergarteners.

The first day of school was great. My kinders came in with their parents and only stayed for about an hour and a half. Then I spent the rest of the day prepping which was fun. There are a lot of younger siblings in my class so I got to see some C track parents and chat for a little bit. One has a son in Ray's class and she was sending her love for a better year for Ray. One has a son in Jack's class and she was going off on how Cervantes doesn't let the kids have ice in their cups. I had to sit there with my big mouth shut but I did!!!

The kids each had a great day! I got them all In n Out and Tanner came home and we all sat around the table and talked about our day. I am soooo happy for the kids and I hope and pray this is a good year for all of them. 

Kassidy dropped Parker off at Weber State for FSY and made sure he had all of the blankets and towels he didn't (that we didn't know he needed). He is having a BLAST and loves it so far!

The second day of school was good too but one of my kinders was a huge challenge. He will not listen or sit still and I had to grab him a million times which was exhausting. I told Tanner he needed to take care of me but then he was feeling overwhelmed at work, too. So we had to take care of each other. He gave me an awesome massage and I felt better after that. 

Wednesday I let them have Wyatt and Aurora over for a quick playdate before going up to Redlands to have dinner with Amy, who's in town from Texas. It's always illuminating spending time with her. She's the best! I then met up with some Eastvale gals at Cafe Rio. It was fun chatting the night away and spending time with friends.

Friday I was sooooo ready for a beach day and would you know, after weeks of blazing hot sun, it was cold and cloudy. But my one student is sooo hard and I was so happy it was Friday and to see my family at 3 Arch. Jack had to sign the book for using the bathroom too many times so I had to call in a favor with Anique and get him a doctors note. All is well now!

But, Josi is in town visiting from NorCal and we made plans to all meet up at the beach. Josi was feeling stressed because there is a huge wild fire very close to her house and James has been a handful. So by the time we finally made it down to the beach, she was about to leave. I didn't really get to see her much but the cousins seemed to have a good time together. They played games, and swam in the ocean, played volleyball, and Jon built a bon fire. Kari stayed for a little while and then left and Cami had to stay home with Max who is a new missionary doing home MTC. There was a few incidences with Josi's boys not getting along so well with mine... and Jack left abruptly after a run in with Gunnar. He grabbed his stuff and went to the car. Poor guy. I felt so badly for him. I took Josi's boys and Noah to my mom's for a sleep over and my kids were sooooo tired by the time we got home- around 11pm! But, I love the beach and I was so happy we could all be there together on a Friday night!

Saturday was soooooo fun! It was a jam packed day full of entertainment and adventure- just how I like it! We got tickets for Cirque Du Soleil several weeks ago and the kids did not really know what they were in for. We met my mom there and I was so glad she joined us, despite Josi being there. The kids LOVED the show. They were blown away. Rayleigh especially was enthralled. She was jabbering non stop to my mom with all her excitement and observations. 

We were in a huge long line to get out of the LH mall parking lot and in a hurry to pick up Parker. But we made it! Yay! Parker is home. He had a great time at FSY and I'm so thankful to Kass and Bridger for helping him get there and get home. It was Parker's first time flying solo and he did great. His experience at FSY was wonderful and he made lots of awesome friends. As it turned out, all of the boys in his group decided to go to FSY alone so they all bonded together. He heard Brad Wilcox speak and was touched by the spirit learning more about sacred music and the journey of perfection. So proud of him!

We got home and then immediately went to Nichole's for a pool party. Her parties are always the best and it was fun for the kids and I to see our school friends. Tanner took a nap and I chatted with the moms. Nichole always has the best food and it was a good time.

THEN, we left Ella with Parker and took Rayleigh and Jack to their very first Angel's game! A vendor reached out to Tanner and offered him some tickets and I thought that sounded fun! Little did I know that we had box seats! Holy cow, it was amazing. We had all you can eat food and drinks- even candy and desserts! We had so many foods to choose from, too. The game was pretty fun even though we didn't really pay attention and there were fireworks at the end! Jack was really bummed (too tired) because he didn't get on the jumbo tron and that was his only goal throughout the night. Ray was adorable and enjoyed every single second. The only bad thing was.... Tanner's old bosses from North American were there!!!!! AWKWARD!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh, we were freaking out. But Tanner is so great and he was friendly and I just pretended that I didn't know anyone. All in all it was a super fun memory and I'm so glad we were able to experience the Angel's game like that. And the Angel's won!

It was a pretty epic first week back at school!
