My First Year of Being 29
I turned 29 on April 30th, 2013. I had low expectations for celebrations this year but it ended up being a very happy day, indeed.
I was overwhelmed with birthday texts, phone calls, messages, and emails! There's nothing like Facebook to remind you how cool and special you are on your birthday!
Tanner's parents sent me some birthday cash which we used to eat out a couple times as a family. What a treat! We hadn't ever tried the Chinese place in town (because we'd heard you could die from eating the food) but I was craving anything that wasn't "all american" so we went there and played it safe with orange chicken and fried rice. We were pleasantly surprised! It was super yummy!
This was my fortune from my cookie. :-)
On the day of my birthday I woke up to a sweet video message from Jon and the girls in Argentina! It makes me smile every time I watch it.

I was able to face-time this adorable trio later on in the morning. They are the cutest!
I was also able to have a very special face-time chat with my Mom and Dad. I love them so,so much! They truly made me feel like a princess, even from a million miles away! My Mom sent me a fabulous birthday package with some darling new clothes. My Dad is my ROCK and I gain so much strength from them knowing they are my biggest fans.
Parker was really sweet because I'd been saving all the cards and packages I'd been receiving in the mail to open on my birthday but Parker was so excited for me to open them all that he got up early, got himself all ready for school, made his bed, brushed his teeth- all that good stuff. Then brought all my gifts into me so I could open them in bed. :-) He was stoked because he got a little something special, too. It was a happy morning for everyone!
(And, on another side note: It's been a week since my birthday but sweet Parker brought me breakfast in bed this morning. He's my favorite.)
We were also able to go out to breakfast as a family over the weekend. We went to Fezz's Diner and it was fabulous! Tanner's eyes are always bigger than his stomach. I told him he had to eat EVERYTHING he ordered. Oh man, he didn't stand a chance. ;-)
We took a little family stroll down to McDonald's one nice, warm evening to get milkshakes. Here Tanner is posing with a bald eagle statue. Apparently the bald eagle is his school's mascot!
Ok, so here's me on my 29th birthday. Baby girl is 18 weeks. Just a tiny little bump. She's perfect. I love her. Oh, and I'm wearing some of my new duds from my Mom!
This year is going to be epic. I mean, seriously. We just found out that Tanner's first rotation will be at BYU-Hawaii! Aloooha! I'm starting off my 29th year in Hawaii! Doesn't get much better than that! Then we get to move back to Laguna Hills and have a beautiful daughter! I can't fathom how this year could be any better!
29 is the year I get to enjoy all the fruits of my labors! And I can't wait!!!
