A Very Zeigler Las Vegas

My Mom informed me a few weeks ago that my Uncle Ron would be flying out west to Vegas in February! I know she was missing her brother something fierce so I told her I would drive out there with her to try and spend some time with him. He was invited to go with Rondo and Jane. Their trailer business is booming and they were gifted an all expense paid trip for 4 so they invited Uncle Ron and Aunt Marie. Tanner, in all his wonderful-ness, agreed to watch the kids and take 2 days off of work so I could drive my mom. My Dad came too so in an effort for me to take a little weekend to myself (without husband or kids) I was crashing my Mom and Dad's get away! ha ha Well, I am the spoiled 5th child! They were just happy to have me drive! It's a good thing I know Vegas from living there for 3 years long, long ago.

We shared a room at the Paris and had an amazing view! As soon as we got there we headed down to the Crepe place and everyone met us in the little cafe. We talked for hours! It was the best! Rondo brought some old passport pictures that had been in a box he found. They were from when my mom was18 and about to go to Brazil with Muzzie and Papa to pick up Uncle Ronny from his mission! I also learned that when Uncle Ronny was a small child he had eczema and the doctor treated it with radiation! What?!?!? Crazy. Aunt Marie was her spunky self and it was fun to chat with Jane. We left the Paris and went across the street to the Cosmopolitain which is where they were staying. We grabbed a fabulous dessert and then I went with Rondo and his buddy to check out the cocktail party (lame) while my parents checked out Uncle Ron's hotel room.

The next day we grabbed crepes for breakfast and spent the day walking around and shopping a little bit. Tanner and the kids FaceTimed me and that was a thrill! I missed them so much! Absence sure makes the heart grow fonder! We also walked around Caesars Palace because it was their 50th anniversary! It is Chinese New Year (the year of the monkey) so there was Chinese stuff everywhere. We walked through the Bellagio gardens and ate some gelato at the place that has the world's largest chocolate fountain. A cute family asked me to take their picture and when I was done I said, "Here ya go! I took a bunch!" and they all laughed. They then told me that their last name was Bunch! So I did in fact take a bunch of a Bunch! ha ha

That night Uncle Ron, Aunt Marie, Rondo and Jane attended Rondo's award ceremony so we decided to eat at Mon Ami Gabi! I had never been there but heard so many great things about it and it was close by. It exceeded every expectation! It was a highlight for me, for sure! Nice dim lighting, white table cloths, candles, cloth napkins, and the sweetest waiter I've ever had in my entire life. He took so much time with us and was just a delight. I had a delicious steak and my parents had trout and we all shred a yummy french dessert. It was amazing. I loved the one on one special time with my parents.

The next morning Uncle Ronny met us for another crepe breakfast and we said our goodbyes. It sure was good to see him and Aunt Marie! I hope we can make it back to Chicago soon!

The drive home was easy and we listened to Steve Martin's book, "Born Standing Up" on the way. It was so funny! Tanner and the kids were waiting outside when we pulled up! Yay! Having those 2 days away left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated! Tanner and the kids had a blast. They got ice cream and went to the park and played hard every day! It's nice to have a little break from reality once and a while but I sure can't beat my reality.
