Tanner's Birthday Week
Saturday was the beginning of the end for Tanner- He turned 29. He will be turning 29 now for the rest of his life. :-)
On Monday both Tanner and I had the day off so we sent Parker to school and indulged ourselves on a little day time date. We went shopping and to a movie and then out to eat. Tanner's favorite food on the planet is steak so steak it was!
Yum!
Oh and let's not forget the weather Utah has been torturing me with...
I was glad that by the time we got back home at the end of that day all the snow was melted. Whew!
Friday we went out and bought Parker a new bed. He's been in his crib sized toddler bed and he's just TOO big for it. Plus, he's been doing this really sweet thing lately where he wants Tanner or me to lay by him while he falls asleep. After a few weeks of the 2 of us curled up in his crib, I knew we needed something bigger. We kept thinking we'd get pregnant and transition then but..... oh well!
He LOVES his new bed and the Lightening McQueen sheets. He cried one night when Tanner threw one of the pillows on the floor. The sheets were way over priced but I thought, "When in your life do you care that much what's on your sheets?"
When you're 3! :-)
That night I was totally bummed I didn't bring my camera! We knew our stake was throwing a little social at the church and we thought we'd stop by really quickly and just grab a treat and say hi to our friends. Little did we know that we'd stay for 2 hours and DANCE like it was prom all over again! It was sooooo fun! Even Tanner danced with me and seemed to enjoy it all! There were twinkle lights and balloons and a DJ.... It was totally awesome. :-)
The next morning was the official birthday for Tanner. We checked the mailbox for any last minute cards and Parker found a special surprise just for him from my Mom. xoxo
We made Tanner breakfast in bed...
And gave him his presents. Parker got him this extremely annoying singing/dancing monkey. It was funny at first....
Oh, and some Oreos since I refuse to keep them in the house. I'll just eat them all!
And we each made him a special card.
Later that morning we drove up to Salt Lake and dropped Parker off at Travis and Nicole's house so they could watch him while Tanner and I went to the Spa and then up to Park City for some dinner. Little did Tanner know that his whole family (Minus Kassidy- we missed her terribly!) drove down to help watch Parker and then come over on Sunday for a special surprise party. Hee hee I'm so sneaky!
Tanner refused to let me take pictures at the spa but it was Ahhhh-mazing! The spa is called Sego Lily and my BFF from college is a massage therapist there. We both wanted her to massage us so I went first while Tanner relaxed and then I had plenty of time to get ready and look pretty for our super nice dinner. Liz is indescribable. All I can say is that she has magic hands. Since she's my BFF it was hard to sit quiet while she gave me the massage. I just wanted to talk and catch up the whole time! :-) It was an hour of absolute heaven. :-)
After the wonderful, relaxing spa experience we headed up to Park City and went shopping at the Outlets. We had a blast cruising all the stores and picking up a few little splurges.
We met Liz and her husband at the Hotel Park City's Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for an incredible meal. I don't think Tanner could have dreamed for a better meal.
Tanner was thrilled when they brought out this delicious birthday dessert. Everyone was so kind and sweet- wishing him a happy birthday every time they walked by. Michael ordered for us and did a fantastic job! We had SUCH a good time talking with them and laughing and telling stories!
Sooooo, the NEXT day (Sunday) I had to try SOOOO hard to keep my big mouth shut! I am the WORST secret keeper and I had been hiding this for a month! I didn't want to ruin it at the last minute. I told everyone to come over while we were at church and of course Tanner had to run home really quick to grab something before his lesson- I about had a heart attack but luckily they weren't there yet. Tanner didn't even bat an eye when he saw me putting 12 potatoes in the oven! He literally had NO idea!
But, his Dad showed up at church to see him give his lesson and Tanner was thrilled. He said, "Hey! My Dad's here! He can watch the BYU game with me!" Little did he know that the rest of his family was hiding in Parker's room. I said, "Go check on Parker and see if he needs help changing his clothes." and then, "SURPRISE!!!!" He was so happy to see all the people he loves soooo much.
We ate dinner and talked and relaxed. It was lovely. Every single minute of it. Thank you to my AMAZING family for helping me pull this off and giving Tanner the greatest gift of all, YOU!
Marley Jo- so stinkin' cute!
Travis and Nicole were the last to leave and we totally didn't want to see them go! We were having so much fun! The day before when we dropped Parker off with them I literally shoved Tanner out of their house and said we needed to go because cute little Kaydence was so excited telling Parker, "Gramma's HERE!!!!!" I thought for sure our cover was blown but Tanner was just mad that he couldn't stay and hang out with his brother for a few minutes. :-) We can't wait to get together again soon! And we can't wait to see Kassidy at the Jr. Miss competition in a few weeks!
Happy Birthday Tanner! I'm so lucky to have been able to spend such an incredible birthday with you! Let's do this again next year! :-) xoxoxox

What is that amazing dessert you served Tanner in bed, WOW! It looks like something of the cooking network. Your date sounded amazing, I'm glad we were able to share in the celebration. You know how to spoil your man (and he deserves it with how hard he works)!!!
