The First Week of Summer

Year round school is so rad. I love that after 3 months of hard work, pick ups, drop offs, homework, and packed lunches, we get a month off to play. And only a month. Longer than and we all get worn out. Too much free time. Too much time in each other's faces. Too much money spent on activities to keep us all busy and sane. Too much TV time. And not enough reading, writing, and remembering. So, ya. I'm kinda digging this year round school thing.

Parker's last day of school was May 27th. He is out until right after the 4th of July. It's perfect. Although since he starts July 6th we aren't able to make it to Utah for the 4th of July celebrations and family reunion. It's kinda heart breaking but under the circumstances (2 babies and no vehicle large enough to transport us all) I think it's a good year to opt out. We've got some fun things planned for his break though! Let's get this party started!

Having Kassidy here has been an adjustment but it's been great. The kids adore her and she's always willing to let them crash her alone time for some fishie faced selfies!

Last day of pick up! Hurray!!!!!!

Oh! And I saw this killer doll house on Ladera Life for $40! Jon was awesome and picked it up for me and brought it over! It's legit. So totally perfect. I have to fight Rayleigh to play with it! ha ha Even Parker got in on the action! He built a few lego creations for it.

I just LOVE my backyard. It's beautiful and private and the kids and I love sitting out there in the afternoons.

Jack is 6 weeks old and flashing us some of the classic 6 week smiles! Love this boy!!!

Day 1 of "summer break"! All my children hopped into bed with me- sleepy eyes all around! We've been enjoying the lazy mornings!!!

Talk about a snuggle bug. He curled up in my arms and fell so hard asleep that he didn't even wake up for a bath! That meant that he was up extra early but I'd never wake a sleeping baby!

This was at Jack's 6 week appointment. I got the news that I do indeed need to start supplementing with formula. We gave it the old college try but the poor kid is starving. He is in the 3rd percentile for head circumference, 10th for weight, and 76th for height! He was in the 98th percentile for height when he was born so he's dropping a bit which is concerning. So, bottles a few times a day it is! He is sooooo much happier now and in fact slept 8 straight hours last night! Way to go champ! I'm so grateful for formula. For some reason my body just does not produce enough milk. Who knows why.... but I'm so glad there is an alternative to keep my babies healthy and strong.

I happened to have MY 6 week post op appointment the same day Jack had his so it was a day full of doctors appointments all around. Cami is still staying with my mom (recovering from surgery) and the kids have taken over the house so we needed to hit the road and head home as soon as our business was done. The only problem was that we faced MAJOR Friday afternoon traffic leaving Laguna at 4:30pm. I had to stop on the side of the 91 and feed/change Jack. I'm sure it's not the last time I'll have to do that. A friendly cop stopped and offered to help but when he realized he was pretty much useless in this situation he went on his way. ha ha My kids are troopers.

Saturday we had such a fun day! Ok, I know I always say that but it seriously was super awesome. After sleeping in with Jack we headed to Riptide for some sushi. We even convinced my Mom to meet us! I'm so glad she is close and can join us spur of the moment! The food was sooooo tasty!

Then we headed to baby beach for some paddle boarding! We weren't there too long and everyone was having a blast when we had to leave but there were things to do! People to see!

Let's just say Rayleigh was tired on the ride home...

When we got back Jeff and Andrea met us at our house for a little visit! They came to SoCal for the weekend to have a little babymoon! I love her so much. It's a shame we aren't next door neighbors. We talked pretty much every day. She's just the best. And look at that tiny bump! Would you believe she's do in 5 weeks!?!!? So crazy that through all of our infertility problems we could BOTH miraculously get pregnant all on our own just a couples months a part. She's having a girl though. Jack and Mae will be eternal companions if we have anything to do with it! ;-)

Rayleigh was flirting so hard with Jeff. She would NOT leave him alone. She has a major huge crush on him now.

After Jeff and Ange left we went to a wedding reception at the Chino Airport. It was held in an airplane hangar which was soooo cool! It was for Joanna, Tanner's marketer. The evening was beautiful and the food was super good! It was so nice being out in the fresh air enjoying the sunset with my family. Weddings are the best!

Parker took it upon himself to provide us dessert. He came back with a smorgasbord!

We attempted church as a family. We were a half an hour late and I only made it half way through Sunday School before I had to leave with Jack. Rayleigh loved the nursery but was very tired by the end and was shedding a tear or 2. We kept her in the "church cage" during sacrament meeting to keep her from running off.

Bless you! That was a big sneezer!

I tried to plan Parker's break to be stimulating for him. Last time he got pretty worn out with too much "baby" time. And since I KNEW he'd be stuck at home with 2 babies and me the entire time if I didn't plan anything, I reached out to the ward for play-dates. Sam with the first friend we had over and these 2 had a blast! Parker is such a social kid and is the BEST at sharing- I swear, he'd give the shirt off his back to someone who asked for it.

We have a lot more planned for this summer! Can't wait to make some awesome memories!
