Matt's Baptism and the Cousin Nativity

A few days ago Josi called me and told me that Matt had been learning about the gospel from the missionaries and had decided to be baptized! She asked if I would give a talk on the Holy Ghost and if they kids would sing “Away in a Manger” and I was honored! He was baptized on a beautiful Monday morning, December 23rd 2019. He was beaming and filled with such a brilliant light! It was truly so touching! The baptism was beautiful, the kids nailed their song, and we were able to take some family photos afterward. Kari had to sneak out to take Tavian to a movie with friends. And Tanner had to go back to work. But the rest of us went to the community center to eat In n Out. It took quite a while to get the food and the kids were kinda restless. Rayleigh was super hungry and just sat in the hall. She seems to be pretty sensitive with her blood sugar. But after we all chowed cheeseburgers and French fries, we were ready to party!
We went back to my parents house and got dressed up for the play. I was out in the car letting Ella get a little nap when Kari stormed out, fuming with Josi. Poor Josi was crying and thus we had some typical holiday drama. The ironic part was when Jon was trying to comfort Josi. All I could do was think, “HYPOCRITE!” But I’m glad the drama had nothing to do with me and I feel confident Josi and Kari will resolve things in a timely manner. 

The cousin nativity was adorable. Rayleigh played the part of Mary and was absolutely perfect. Brody was Joseph and it was a complete wonderful. Parker was a hilarious shepherd and Jack and Ella didn’t participate and played in the playroom. We enjoyed the afternoon together and then I took the kids home for bed. We stopped by Chick Fil A for ice cream in case the drive was too intense. But The traffic was terrific which was awesome!

It was a superb day and we made many happy memories! It’s always a joy to witness the children doing the nativity play, hearing my dad read, and seeing the kids so peaceful and engaged. The gospel is true! Jesus lives!
