It's Been a Rough Week

Whelp, guess what?
The day after we had 2 of Tanner's fellow administrators over (and their wives), on a Saturday (keep in mind), Tanner got a distressing text from Courtney in HR telling him to NOT come in to work on Monday- that they were suspending him pending an investigation.
I'll let you take a moment to think about how the rest of our day went.
He was on his way to Home Depot. We had a few projects going on and plans for the day and that all went completely out the window. Tanner spent the next few days almost exclusively on the phone. On Monday they told him to stay home for the rest of the week. Tomorrow, a full week later, he's finally been asked to come in at the end of the day. Why? We have no idea.

They have given Tanner absolutely ZERO indication as to what he's done wrong or what has warranted any kind of investigation. His old DON quit a week before Christmas (remember how Tanner went to work on Christmas Day? That was all her fault for bowing out) and when Tanner had an opportunity to talk to her face to face regarding her trying to "steal" nurses from his building, she spread rumors that he was harassing her. He was in a public setting with a witness and let HR know before and after he confronted her. And guess what? She quit this week!
Another concern we've heard about is "turn over" at the building but to take a week to investigate something like that is ridiculous. Tanner hasn't done anything wrong besides make Covey a boat load of money. He's expressed concerns about not getting paid his earned bonuses and the only logical explanation is that Covey is trying to squeeze Tanner out so that he doesn't have to pay him. (That's how much money he owes him)
At this point, Tanner is ok with walking away from the money but for them to defame him or fire him with no reason is illegal and Tanner is prepared to fight. He has an interview with North American tomorrow but he's most excited about working with Steve after he acquires 3 buildings from Covey in the next few months.
We've been praying hard this week to be guided along the Lord's path for us. We've been studying D&C 10:5 in Come Follow Me so it's all been very fitting. The missionaries came over today for the sacrament and they asked me to give the talk. I spoke about prayer and repentance and "laying it all out there" for our Father in Heaven. Tell Him your hopes, fears, dreams, goals, shortcomings, failures, and ask for blessings, inspiration, and forgiveness. Then listen and ACT.

Anyhoo, Tanner hasn't had a hair cut in an entire year. He cut it and shaved his beard and the missionaries didn't even recognize him! When Ella first saw him she did a full on double take! It was hilarious. I miss the long hair but... new year, new me! Right?

Meanwhile, we had a busy week of ZOOMs, homeschool classes, google classroom, piano practice, piano lessons, mutual, dance, and Rayleigh's very first gymnastics class which she LOVED! We had a fun family movie night and watched Finding Ohana. Tanner went to Costco and smoked us some delicious ribs! He also fixed a lot of things around the house including the water pressure. Who knew water pressure in the shower could make me so happy!?
The missionaries asked if they could come over and do yard work so we happily took them off on their offer and the yard looks fantastic! We finally put the christmas lights away and cleaned up the garage a little bit.
Tanner went to breakfast with Steve on Friday and came back upbeat and excited. I went to lunch with my friends at Avocado House and not only was the food delish but it was sooooo nice being together with my friends again. We soooo need each other and I'm so grateful for them! I don't know what I'd do without my daily Marco Polos with Angel and gym time with Parker every morning, either!

By Saturday we were ready to get some fresh air and sunshine. It's been quite chilly and rainy but Saturday was warm and gorgeous. The beach is our happy place. Even though the water was freezing, the kids still got in and had such a fun time looking for shells and exploring the tide pools at the Montage. It gave Tanner the opportunity to sit and reflect on his goals and aspirations and also what was so blatantly wrong with Madison Creek. I'm encouraging him to not say too much on Monday- just take what they give him and regroup and process and return with a defense and possibly an attorney. But anyhoo, that's his business. I just want what's best for him.
The point is, the beach is the best. It was crazy to drive 45 minutes and be in the snow one week and drive 45 minutes and be at the warm beach a week later.
Today, Jack lost his other front tooth and I can't handle it. He's the cutest, sweetest, most smart alec-ie kid that I love with allll my heart! I can't believe how fast he's growing up! Rayleigh hasn't lost either top tooth!!!!
Today is also the superbowl. Florida has its own set of rules so they are able to fill a stadium while we are still locked down here in CA. It's ok, we are surviving. But this has been a wild ride. I'm so hopeful that the kids will return to school.... someday! Maybe when the new school year starts.
That's my update. I'm sure the next post will prove to be more entertaining with Tanner's work issues *hopefully* resolving. Stay tuned!

This girl loves dollies and tea parties!

The little girls at homeschool class are obsessed with Parker

Wyatt turned 8 and his baptism is coming up!
