Thanksgiving 2022
All year I wracked my brain to figure out how I could get out of going to Jon's for Thanksgiving. For YEARS it has been nothing but stress and heartache. I wanted to go to Idaho but all of Tanner's siblings and parents were going to St. George for the weekend. I wanted to go up and visit Josi in her new place but she's not quite ready for visitors yet. And I just couldn't force myself to be away from family during such a "family" holiday. But guess what? It was a perfectly nice day! It wasn't stressful, the dinner was good (yet cold), and the kids all played together without any adults (Jon) yelling at them or acting weird.
We all talked about what we are thankful for which was sweet. And the kids played Laser Tag at the park when it got dark and had the best time ever! It's seriously going to be a new core memory for them all. They had so much fun!
We visited Fashion Island for our annual Christmas Tree tradition. I love going on the evening of Thanksgiving when the place is empty and we can run around and dance and enjoy the Christmas spirit alive and well. The tree never disappointed and the kids loved seeing the koi fish, too!
At the end of the day, I was so happy with the day. I am thankful for a peaceful, pleasant day. I'm thankful for a loving, kind family. I'm thankful for our health and wellness and for the opportunity to set lofty goals with the high hopes to achieve them. I'm thankful for the promise of a loving Heavenly Father that we can all be perfected someday and that today, we can allow ourselves peace through the atoning sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the gospel and for a living prophet here on the Earth today.
But most of all, I'm thankful for my children and my husband.... and my comfy bed.
Jack was thankful for "steak". ha ha
