March Madness
I thought this week would be straight forward and a little boring. Oh man, I was way wrong! It was STACKED. I should have known when Parker called us all excitedly on Monday night telling us to run outside and look at the sky. It was a SpaceX launch! So cool! (Parker was on his way to a lacrosse game).
Tuesday I had a great massage and adjustment at the chiropractor. My right ear has been doing that crackle thing for a few months now and I know it’s because of all the tension and inflammation in my neck. Ugh. But I took the kids to Disney after school and though their behavior wasn’t the best, we had a good time. I’m glad Parker came with us!
On Wednesday, I worked and got gas and got my car washed and ran to the store and picked up the kids and brought Harper and Lincoln over to play and then dropped them off and took Jack straight to soccer and worked on editing photos and writing my last BLOG post and it was a non stop day! That evening, I went to dinner with some fellow kinder aides and it was SO fun! It’s nice to get together outside of work to chat and laugh and connect.
Thursday, I was lucky enough to be able to go with Jack on his class field trip to Riley’s Farm. I drove up a car full of parent volunteers and it was so fun! We brought snacks to share with each other, turned on some early 2000s tunes, and got to talk to each other without kids interrupting which was so nice! The weather was perfect and the kids were so great. They had a good time doing old times chores and we had a big picnic in the grass at the end. I loved being able to be there with Jack. His teacher couldn’t go because her husband was in the hospital with some heart trouble, so Ella’s teacher volunteered to go in her place and get a sub for HER class. She was soooooo stony and cold all day. She never told the kids they were doing great or that she was happy to be with them. She is so mean! But the kids were great so she never felt the need to yell at them. Shannon bought me an apple pie since I drove and it was so yummy! We raced back to school, I grabbed my kids, picked up Parker, and ran to MCO where everyone had their attire checks! It was wild! But we did it! I also had my cone job which I’m so thankful for- glad I can help!
Tanner was in Oceanside for a meeting about company equity so he missed rehearsal. So while Parker was singing, I took the kids to my parents’ house to eat dinner and take baths. Then we picked up Parker and drove home and all in all it was a great day!
Friday was rainy so we snuggled in after school. I cleaned the whole house and scanned my friend’s 16 year old daughter which was actually so fun!
Saturday was rainy, too, and the kids had an MCO rehearsal. I had my cone duty to do so we had to get there early. Jack had a soccer game at 10:40am and his rehearsal ended at 10:00am. I thought there was a chance we could get him to his game on time but Tanner’s rehearsal didn’t end until noon and I had a bridal shower at Lisa’s in San Clemente that I didn’t want to miss. Since it was raining, we gambled on his game being canceled. But it wasn’t. And they won. And Jack was SOOOO angry with me. I don’t know why he’s not mad at Tanner for not taking him. But he’s very upset with me and let me know it. I tried to bribe the kids with Chick A Lay and time at my parent’s house… which was nice. But not enough. Tanner and I went to a luxury movie in Newport that night for date night. We saw a really good movie about a man who saved hundreds of children from Czechoslovakia during WW2. I was so drained and tired from the day/week that I didn’t meet Tanner’s expectations either and he was mad at me for a few days. I’M JUST ONE PERSON!!!
Jack woke up on Sunday morning sobbing. He claimed into bed with me and I thought he had a nightmare. But no, he was just still so upset about missing his winning game. I tried to comfort him and tell him how Christ can heal our broken hearts. But I’m not sure it helped because after church he was still mad at me. At that point, I’d had enough blame placed on me and sat him down and told him to knock it off. He was TRYING to hurt my feelings and I already felt badly enough for him missing his game! Sheesh!
Anyhoo, you win some and you lose some. Maybe Tanner can read this 50 years later and have a little empathy for what I’ve gone through as a mother!
And let’s home next week (Holy Week) is a little less chaotic!
