Trying to Lay Low in March

 Laying low after surgery hasn't been easy. There's so much going on and I have a hard time sitting still. Jack forgot his backpack in my mom's car. So we took a trip down to Laguna to pick it up. The kids stayed at my moms so they could play at the park with Brody (Jon and Laura are in Argentina for 2 weeks) while Tanner and I took a slow stroll along the sidewalk at Strands. It felt so good to get out and see the ocean!

The week after my surgery was nice. The kids had dress rehearsals for Aladdin almost every day after school until 5:30 so I had ALL day to sit and relax. I mostly read and did easy chores... I tried to walk a mile on the treadmill each day, too. Tanner took the kids to soccer and mutual and each night, someone from the ward brought dinner which was so kind and greatly appreciated.

Jack's soccer team was invited to go to a semi pro soccer game so Tanner took him to Toyota Arena and they had fun! 

And Ray won an award for academic achievement at school and we surprised her by showing up for the assembly. It was so sweet to see her face light up. I'm so proud of her. It was nice to pop back onto campus if only for a minute. 

I had my 2 week post op appointment on March 10th and it felt good to finally drive and semi return to the land of the living. The doctor was running behind so as his patients began to gather in the waiting room, we started trauma bonding over our hysterectomies. We shared battle wounds and incision scars and shared tales of healing and constipation. It stirred up that passion in me for women's health and well being. It was actually really nice to bond with those women while we waited to be seen by the doctor. One girl came in looking like a model with her 6 pack abs and long beautiful hair, no wrinkles and telling us how she also got a her boobs enlarged "just a tiny bit" during her hysterectomy.... and if that wasn't the most Newport thing I've ever heard! More power to her! But also, I want women to know they are perfectly and wonderfully made by an all knowing Father in Heaven.  ***sigh***

Anyhoo, after my appointment, I was able to go to lunch with my mom and run to Target before going back to her house to work on a birthday dinner for Cami and made a dozen little thank you gifts for the people who brought us dinners. Cami's birthday dinner was so fun and it was great getting the chance to catch up with her! The kids came too and we had a wonderful time chatting around the dinner table. My mom outdid herself with corned beef and cabbage and a yummy strawberry pound cake for dessert. Yum!

Ella was able to go on her 3rd grade field trip to Riley's Farm and loved it! She had a great time with her friends and her sweet student teacher gave her money to buy something from the store before they hit the road back to campus. So sweet!

So far, having a hysterectomy has been great and I'd highly recommend it! 10/10!
