1st Annual Girls Trip: Anderson Island, WA
The weekend made it out of the group chat! For the first time- me, Angel, Jana, Lindsey, and Ashely all got together for a weekend away and it was glorious! Angel and I flew into Seattle and met up with Lindsey and Ashely at the airport and we all went out to Jana’s car and drove to an Airbnb in Kent. We realized too late that we wouldn’t make it to the last ferry of the night and had to scramble to book something for that night. It totally worked out though and being together was all that mattered.
We talked until way too late and laughed harder than any of us had in a very long time. It was easy and familiar being together and we were all so happy. Angel and I shared a room and the next day we woke up and made our journey to Anderson Island for the rest of the weekend.
Jana booked us a cute Airbnb on a remote island with an amazing view of the ocean and a hot tub! Riding the ferry was such a neat experience and of course the chatting never stopped. When we arrived, we found blackberry bushes all over the property and picked a bunch for lunch. We checked out the beach (which was covered in sand dollars) and explored a little bit. We went on a “hike” down a trail around the island and learned a little bit about the people who settled there many years ago and the explorers who first discovered Anderson Island. Jana made us a delicious dinner and we sat in the hot tub that night. It was a great day!
The next morning, Angel made us yummy breakfast burritos and we went for a walk. We did yoga and a short meditation out on the grass in the sunshine. We kayaked and paddle boarded in the ocean and enjoyed dinner together while we watched the sunset. We sat in the hot tub again and did hilarious face masks all the while non stop talking.
I slept in the surf shack that night which was actually pretty rad. It was a little scary but so quiet and peaceful. We had to wake up a little early the next morning to catch the ferry and make sure we all made it to the airport on time. Me and Angel’s flight was delayed but it was fine- we were chill because we had no where to be! We made it home around 3 and were able to spend the rest of the night relaxing with family.
I’ve already started planning the next girls trip! It was everything we needed and more. We shared life updates, life hacks, and made amazing new memories together. There’s nothing better than friends you’ve known your whole life who accept you as you are and love you unconditionally. I’m so proud to have these smart, generous, strong, beautiful friends!
