Chan's 31st Birthday
For my birthday this year all I wanted was some new family photos with Tanner's camera and a day at the beach. As it turned out, Tanner was able to take the day off to help me take the babies in for check ups. Jack had his 2 week well check and Rayleigh had her 18 month well check. We all piled in the car (we REALLY need a van) and drove to Laguna.
I couldn't have done the doctor appointments without Tanner. It took an hour and a half, Rayleigh HATES the doctor (now that she remembers shots, which she had to get) and they had to draw blood from Jack's foot for a jaundice scan (all is well) which took forever. Dr. Jugaunt is very thorough and I love her so it was all worth it.
Rayleigh is in the 95th percentile for height and 90th for weight. At 18 months, she is the size of a 27 month old. Jack is slowly gaining weight but there might be a need to supplement. I'm going to try my best not to, though. Everyone is happy and healthy! Anique checked Rayleigh's ear, too, and the infection is clearing up nicely.
Coastal kids is the best! We stopped by Chick Fil A on our way down to the Montage. Yum! They gave me a free cookies-n-cream shake because it was my birthday! Score!
I received tons of nice phone calls, texts, and facebook messages on my birthday which is one of the best things about having a birthday now a days! When Robyn texted me I told her we were going to the beach and she was too! So we met her and Cecily and Sadie at the Montage!
Parker: What's the phone thing???
Cecily was so sweet to share her snacks with this beach babe.
Only a toddler could pull off a beach bum like that and get away with it!
Parker instantly made friends with a girl visiting from England and they had a blast harvesting seaweed.
It was an absolutely pristine day at the beach. The weather was perfect!
I love this picture of Rayleigh.
She is such a snuggle bug! Giving everyone kisses....
Jack loves being outside, too. And nothing beats the sound of the waves to lull you to sleep.
See Ray's band aid from her shot. Poor baby. She was so sad.
The beach is Rayleigh's favorite place. Just like her Mama. This is her element, for sure!
Yay! Our family picture! Thank you, Cecily, for snapping these for us and capturing the moment!
Then we took some of the sleepy head.
We have a picture hanging in our home of our hands in the sand way back when it was just Tanner, Parker, and me. We decided to reenact the scene but with 2 additions to the family and use our feet instead of hands. There's 50 toes! That's a lot! And they are all different sizes. I sure do love all of those feet.
Nothing beats a day at the beach with the ones you love.
My parents worked at the temple all day but my mom prepared a wonderful birthday dinner for me anyway! The table was beautifully set, the decorations were a fantastically festive shrine to the birthday girl, the dinner was scrumptious, and the ice cream cake my all time favorite. My mom is a miracle worker and she knows just what to do to make me happy and feel special.
She even held Jack so I could eat with 2 hands!
Kassidy came after work. Well, she came after she ran errands for Tanner. He kind of dropped the ball on a gift and/or card so he had her go shopping on her way over. She did a good job though. The card was spot on and they each got me a new hat! My mom got me a necklace and a super nice bag. I felt so spoiled.
We made my Dad hold Jack again. He likes to pretend he's not good with babies but after 5 kids and 14 grand-kids he's pretty much a pro.
Rayleigh made a little bit of a mess with her lasagna and Oreo cake. I could just eat her up!
The best part of my birthday was spending it with the ones I love most and realizing, as I blew out my candles, that I have absolutely nothing to wish for. I have everything I've ever dreamed of, and more.
Well ok. If you're gonna ask, I wished for a house at 3 Arch. ;-)
