Labor Day Weekend with Angeluis
First day back from our vacation and it was back to reality: school, laundry, groceries... On Friday, Parker was off on a backpacking adventure at Crystal Cove. Apparently the hike was MUCH harder than he was expecting and he didn't eat or sleep too well so he was not a "happy camper" the next day. But I wanted to go down and spend some time at the beach and pick him and AND have Angeluis meet us down there to hang out for a while. Tanner was not on board with this plan. So both men in my life were miserable and it made for a very challenging day for Chandra.
We stopped at the Shake Shack to pick up Parker and that was fun and yummy! Newport was too crowded so we headed down to Strands which was also crowded but not as bad. Angeluis met us down there and the kids had so much fun together! But we couldn't keep Rayleigh out of the water. I was happy to swim out there with her but the waves were tricky and since the tide was so low, there were these giant boulders in the way which freaked me out. No matter what we did or said, Rayleigh was determined to swim. She LOVES the ocean and being in the waves and I dont blame her. Awkardly, there was an older woman who was hawk eye on Rayleigh (standing exactly next to me but she probably didn't realize I was her mother) After a while she got the lifeguard to go out and get Rayleigh. He came up and talked to me and I told him she was fine and that I was watching her. About an hour later he came up to help me again and was super nice. I explained how much Rayleigh loved the water and that she's only 5 and he was seriously impressed and said she should be a lifegaurd when she turns 16! He went out and got her because we needed to pack up and head home and I didn't want to go get her- so that was nice of him to offer!
We went home and let the kids swim and Angel and I went to Cafe Rio to have a little girls night in honor of her upcoming birthday! We talk every single day so it was fun to actually hang out in person!
The next day, Luis made a yummy breakfast and we went to church. Angelius stayed home because they had sleeping kids. We BBQed some burgers and fries and chicken wings and just relaxed while the kids played. We talked and it was interesting to see the dynamic between Angel and Luis because they aren't getting along too well lately. But we got Ang a chocolate Nothing Bunt Cake and sang Happy Birthday to her which was fun!
They hung out for a while the next day and I was able to take their family pictures. Tanner was on a roll with yard work. Angel left my house almost spotless so there was just a little laundry to do after they left. We stopped by Jill's- she was having a little Labor Day Soiree.
It was a jam packed, super fun, friend filled weekend!
But now we are exhausted.
