Quarantine Week 4

This week, we had some sunny days and some rainy days. We tried new recipes, spent time outside, did crafts, and played games. Leslie asked me if I needed anything at Costco and, while they were still out of toilet paper and paper towels, she was able to pick up milk and salmon for us. And she surprised us with a yummy chocolate mousse cake for Easter and some of her extra TP. Serving others right now is so simple and so meaningful!

On Tuesday morning, a coworker for Tanners dropped off 2 big boxes of n95 masks with a box of donuts! So sweet! Tanner has been turning heads with his hard work regarding patient care and valuing staff and nurses. The CDC is taking notes and thanking Tanner for his innovative approach.

I spent some time playing games with Rayleigh which was fun. That "one on one" time is hard to come by. I turned on some YouTube art classes which Rayleigh loved while I made some veggie soup in an attempt to use up our life-time supply of carrots (provided by the school through their “pick up” lunch program) and Parker baked homemade bread! Kim sent me a yummy pasta recipe that totally hit the spot.
I have been doing HIGH fitness with Courtney 3 times a week, trying to read my stack of Ensigns, and other books. This slower paced life is nice. But the washing machine wasn’t draining so I listened to an online medical conference regarding ultrasound and COVID19 while I took it apart. I fixed it! Tanner brought me some Cold Stone because I am only human.
We did a STEM activity after dinner one night- jelly beans and toothpicks to create a structure. Parker did great! Jack lost interest pretty quickly. But Rayleigh stayed with it for a long time!

Parker is my right hand man and working hard to get caught up on his work. He loves playing Minecraft with Jack and has his special big kid time watching The Voice or Beyblades when the kids go to bed. He’s been emailing Lily and loves to help me in the kitchen.

Rayleigh is the easiest to keep busy. She has a great imagination, loves to play and create, and can spend hours outside. She never complains and is consistently happy. She has her emotional moments, like we all do, but is pretty good about self regulating and finding a quiet place to reset.

Jack is counting down the days until his 4th birthday. He will spend allll day on the iPad if I let him, playing Minecraft. He has no interest in doing school work of any kind but, be has a great imagination and will lose himself in play with LEGOS, cars, or planes acting out some scene. He spends most of his time with Rayleigh, they are best buddies.

Ella is doing great with potty training and she is sweet as can be. Her vocabulary is exploding, “That’s too boring” when I asked her if she wanted to take a nap. She screams a lot and gets frustrated with older siblings who don’t include her. She will snuggle with me and watch a show, gets super excited when she sees Tanner is home and ready to go into the hot tub, and loves to say the prayer at dinner time exclaiming "I DID IT" after she says, "amen."

It’s sweet how many people check on us and express their love and concern for us during this crazy time. We are doing well, staying healthy, and accomplishing little projects and goals along the way. We miss Tanner, our friends and family, the beach and Disneyland, but life is ok. We are ok.
