4th of July 2020

Because Covid has ruined everything about the year 2020 and we couldn’t make the annual trek to Utah to celebrate in Sundance, I invited everyone over to our house for a pool party at BBQ. Kari and Jon declined due to each his or her own qualms. But the rest of us had a blast!

Tanner smoked some delicious meats, everyone else brought food to share, I made Aunt Jane’s famous rice crispy treats, the kids swam and played in the sprinkler whale, and a good time was had by all! Parker set up a “teen hang out” in the garage where the big kids played games for hours. My mom brought some really cool family history- some of my grandma’s dolls and an old family Bible that had belonged to my great grandparent who passed away in 1918 from the Spanish Flu. We had the outdoor air conditioner blasting so everyone was comfortable and it was a great day! Before everyone left, I busted out some red, white, and blue jello and I realized I’m kinda the weird Mormon lady who makes jello for every holiday.

After the family left, we scooted on over to Jills to join our friends for another backyard celebration. The kids swam some more while we chatted with our buddies, they did poppers, and it was so fun being with the people who make life sparkle. I sure do love my friends!

When it got dark, we came home and lit off fire works in the drive way. Tanner played patriotic music and the kids loved doing sparklers! We had a good system and no one got hurt. I felt proud that I was prepared and even had glow sticks for them to play with. I spent $80 on some bigger fountains which were so cool and fun to do. Every where you looked in the sky, there were big fireworks going off. People were really going all out this year to celebrate our freedom since we are all feeling like we are so locked down.
It was a fantastic and atypical 4th of July. We made the most of the situation and I think it was a huge success!

God, please bless America!

I had fun decorating for the 4th and doing my nails all fancy
