Tanner Comes to the Beach!
One fundamental difference between Tanner and me is that I am obsessed with the beach and Tanner is tolerant, at best. But he had work off on Friday to honor the 4th of July and we dragged him to Linda Lane to check out our new favorite beach. We had high hopes of teaching the kids how to surf on our long board, but the waves were way too intense. But we packed snacks and boogie boards and stayed for a few hours before leaving the growing crowds. We grabbed some La Sirena Grill, stopped by my parents to say hello, and headed home for a little swimming and family movie night. We are so lucky and blessed to live where we do and enjoy the immense beauty and entertainment our home has to offer. I do not take it for granted! Summer is my season!!!!
It's not all beach days and sun rays around here, though. Rayleigh got a waffle ball stuck on her finger and we could NOT get it off. She tried pulling it, getting it wet, even jumping in the pool. She let me attempt to cut it off but started freaking out when she thought I was going to cut her finger. So, we decided to wait until Tanner got home. He tried a few things before he told her he had to just cut it off. She was NOT a fan of this plan. But we both held her as he cut the entire top off the ball, then doused her finger with dish soap and we were finally able to pull it off. She was only slightly traumatized.
Then, Parker got bit by his friend's dog when he went over to play. He got to the door and the dogs came bounding after him and one totally attacked him! The friend's mother is a nurse so she got it all cleaned and Parker stayed to play. But it looks awful! He's healing nicely.
Thennn, Tanner had to go into work in the middle of the night because his CNAs are once again not showing up for work. Only it's not COVID that's scaring them off, it's the fact that they are demanding more pay! If their outrageous demands aren't met, they simply don't show up, and the poor patients suffer. Tanner says more patients are infected with bed sores than he's ever had to deal with. So sad.
Nothing a hug from Nanny can't fix.
And family movie nights.
And chocolate.
