XCaret! Day 1 and 2

XCaret:
Monday 28th- Arrival
After a FULL day of travel (woke up at 4:30am, Luis picked us up at 5:15am and took us to the airport, flight left at 7:30am, change planes in Phoenix, arrived in Mexico at 4:00pm- 2 hour time difference- got through customs, grabbed our bags and found the Xcaret lounge. This was where things got niiiice. 

We had a private area where they offered us food and drinks and got us checked in and escorted us to the super nice shuttle to the resort. When we arrived, it was sunset and the main lobby blew us away! It’s gorgeous and everywhere we turned some one was offering us a cool towel for our hands and face, a Mexican popsicle, a complimentary mask, or something else! We were taken to a private lounge to get us checked in and all of our tours and reservations finalized before personally taking us to our incredible room. There were so many bells and whistles- Tanner was in Heaven! So many buttons and every imaginable amenity! Our room was in the spa tower, Casa Agua, and had a volcanic rock tub and hammock on the balcony which overlooked the beautiful blue Xenotes river and jungle beyond. It. Was. Incredible. We were starving so our hostess escorted us to out first of many outstanding culinary experiences at Las Cuevas- a Brazilian style BBQ along the water’s edge and tucked away in caves. We also ordered our first of MANY piñatas which were the non alcoholic Pina coladas. We crashed into bed that night completely euphoric.

Tuesday 29th- Presentation, Xcaret (take the boat), hydro Spa, Xplor Fuego

We slept in a little bit before heading to the dreaded timeshare presentation. We enjoyed a great breakfast again at Las Cuevas and our presenter, Laura was really sweet. We lied and said we had no kids and were finally expecting our first so that we wouldn’t get too pressured to purchase. The Presentation lasted 3 hours. Not too bad. After that, we took a super Fun/cute boat to XCaret Park. We met a cute couple who’d been married 38 years and swam the River with them. It was nice being with them because they were fun to talk to and showed us where to go. The River swim was beyond anything I could have ever imagined. It was breathtakingly beautiful and felt so good. At one point, we were in a dark cave where bats were flying around and I bumped into the silent lifeguard who was floating around and it scared me to death! We made the joke that he was Batman. Soy Batman!!! Also, a black bird scared me by flying into my face while we were floating out of a cave and into the mangroves. Everyone laughed!

After that refreshing and extraordinary swim, we walked to where we could see the ocean, took some pictures, and then made our way back to the cute little boat that would take us back to the resort. We passed by flamingos and a small, ancient Mayan community. We could have spent many more hours there but it was time for our spa appointment!

Since were were staying in the spa tower, we were able to experience the guided HydroSpa therapy- sauna, shower, steam room, cold plunge, hot tub, hydro massage pool, yummy juice- it was very beautiful and relaxing. We love a good spa experience and this did NOT disappoint!

With no time to waste, we decided to venture to XPlor Fuego! We started off with the Buggie Ride through the caves and jungle all lit by torches, huge zip line (7 of them, to be exact). All the lines were in the dark and one was through a ring of fire! We descended below ground to the raft ride through Xenotes and swam the river all to ourselves. Since we were there at night, no one else was there with us which was extra cool! There were underwater waterfalls and tons of stalagmite/stalactites. So cool! We were starving and devoured the Buffet dinner. And again, we collapsed into bed.
