XCaret Day 3: Tulum and XelHa

Wednesday 30th- Tulum/XelHa 

So cool to explore the ancient ruins and learn more about the Mayan culture. I loved visualizing the heroes in the Book of Mormon. It was cool how they built the structure at the top of the hill with a window where the sun would shine exactly on the spring equinox. They didn’t have a calendar. They used the sun and moon. Just like day 2 of the creation where God separated the light from the dark. These ancient people sure were faithful! Tulum is not the “best” ancient community, but it is the most well preserved because it was smack dab in the middle of the Yucatán peninsula (protected on the north and south) and has a treacherous reef out to see which made invasions from the the almost impossible.

After our tour of Tulum, we were taken to XelHa. Once again, we missed breakfast so we were starving. We ate lunch at a yummy buffet and it was extra good! We then had more adrenaline rushes with the giant 150 foot water slide, swimming in a sea cave, swimming through a cool grotto, hiking in the rain in the rainforest, seeing tons of iguanas, floating the river, and Tanner even jumped off the "Courage Cliff"! At the end of the day, we laid out in the sunshine and relaxed and hit the buffet one last time before heading back to the resort.

That night, we had dinner back at Las Cuevas again-we were getting very tired by then but did a little exploring and found some cool spots that we are excited to see in the daytime!
