Weekend Fun with Friends
Time with best friends could not have come at a better time. I was told about a Bible Study group which consisted of a bunch of moms from school- more than a few from my kinder class. When I asked if I could join I was told no based upon the fact that I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was shocked. And I cried. A lot.
I never expected to be excluded from a Bible Study group based on negative lies and assumptions about my faith. It was hurtful but I pray that my "friend" who is hosting this group has a softened heart some day. I've been feeling excluded a lot these days and I wonder if this is God trying to teach me something. Clearly my life is wonderful and beautiful if the thing what truly gets me down is not being able to go to a Bible Study class. But here we are...
I was able to attend bookclub at my mom's house and that ALWAYS does the heart some good. I am so thankful for these sweet ladies and for the opportunity I have to spend some 1:1 time with my parents. It is good for my soul.
Friday, Andrea was able to visit and spend the night with her kiddos. The kids swam and played while we made dinner and I tell you again, this sister wife thing ain't all bad. Andrea sets the bar in a lot of ways and cooking delicious healthy meals is one of them. Lemon chicken with rice and asparagus. YUM! Rayleigh and Jack were thrilled to have her girls sleep in their room with them. Andrea is such a magnificent mother. She really is. And I'm so thankful she's MY friend. My person! We hung out the next morning for a few hours and then they made their way to Newport.
We'd had plans to meet up with the old North American guys and we were all really looking forward to it. But plans got canceled so we called for reinforcements. Angel and her boys came over for swimming and homemade pizza. It was just like in the olden days when we lived in Utah and she'd bring what she had and I'd bring what I had and somehow we'd end up with a feast and a pocket full of good vibes and happy memories.
Friends are people I do NOT take for granted. Best friends who uplift you, have your back, listen when you cry, validate you, support you, pray for you, teach you, and love you are the real deal. And I'm so grateful for mine!!!
-Oh! And we sold the baby grand! We'll fix the other piano up and bring it back in. Regrets were had...
