The Huntington Library

Saturday's adventure brought us to the Huntington Library! I'd heard plenty of rave reviews but still didn't know too much about it so we pretty much just winged it! The price to enter is pretty high so we ended up just purchasing an annual family pass so we can go back and enjoy all there is to offer for an entire year. This beautiful place is just 10 minutes from Tanner's work so it was cool to explore some more of the surrounding areas around Pasadena/Monrovia/Arcadia.... The neighborhood itself is breathtaking.

We had no idea how huge the grounds were! Literally acres upon acres of vast gardens featuring flowers, trees, and all sorts of plants from all over the world! There were also about half a dozen art galleries that would have been brilliant to roam and discover but the children would not allow that sort of quiet exploring. They DID absolutely LOVE the Children's Garden, though! They could have stayed there all day! It was wonderful to see Parker reading and learning all about the various plants in the expansive green houses and experiment with the different scientific displays. Rayleigh loved to play with the rocks and water and generally make a big mess of herself. I had this brilliant idea of dressing us alike in white pants and denim shirts. We were both filthy by the end of the day. 

Mid way through our adventure we left to get some yummy food from a local hole-in-the-wall restaurant. We were home at a descent hour for baths and bed. It was a beautiful day and I'm so excited to return again soon! (Before it gets too hot). We've been thinking a lot about the possibility of homeschooling Parker for 7th and 8th grade and it's so wonderful to know of the extensive opportunities to learn, "hands on", in Southern California! Our children are really fortunate!

We ordered pizza and sat in the hot tub when we arrived home and Tanner took a sweet snap shot of our living room to document our cute little Valentine's Day Decor. He's a cutie!
