Ella's First Trip to Disneyland

Parker was again invited to participate in some education classes at Disneyland with the fabulous Kathy Brown. Jill and Courtney came too! I was offered 2 free 3 day passes because they had extra chaperone tickets so I asked my mom if she wanted to come with me to take Rayleigh for her birthday! Lucky for me, she said yes! Since we had to be at Disneyland by 7:30am, my mom spent the night on Sunday and we left bright and early the next morning.
Unfortunately, on the drive there we learned of the devastating shooting that took place in Vegas the night before.  Josi texted us all to let us know she and Matt were safe. We are sickened by the cowardly act of violence but are so proud of the way Vegas and the rest of the country have come together to help lift and support each other and especially those affected.
It seemed a little awkward to be at the happiest place on earth in wake of the terrible events of the night before. But we hustled and had a great time. Life must go on.
Later that day, Tanner was working late and Parker was still at Disneyland. I had made the kids dinner and had them sitting watching a show as I reflected on the recent tragedy. I felt guilty as I looked over at them, eating Top Ramen, watching a cartoon. But almost immediately I felt Muzzie so close. Her spirit was lost tangible. I felt her speak to me saying, "It's ok. You're doing just fine. And everything will be ok. Everyone will be ok."I started to bawl. I thought I should be reading to the kids from the Friend or the scriptures, teaching them the gospel, singing primary songs. I felt her say, "Give yourself a break. You're doing great!" and I continued to sob.  She said, "Don't let them see you cry. It's all going to be ok."And then they were all there with me. Muz, Papa, Grandma and Grandpa. Grandpa told me there's much to do within my own extended family- love to share, service to give. Especially with the Bullock kids. They reminded me that I'm never alone in this journey, never on my own raising these children. They want what's absolutely best for them too and they are here cheering me on. I am so deeply comforted by their abiding love. The veil is thin.
I vividly remember feeling them so close in the very early morning hours of my birthday all those years ago in a tent in Moab. It was my birthday and all I wanted was another baby. I was quietly crying and praying to know WHY. My heart was broken and I was losing hope. But I felt them so close, surrounding me, comforting me. Especially Grandma. She told me she knew what it felt like to live in Provo and see everyone around her having babies except you. She let me know that sometimes life is hard but there is beauty all around and to be happy with how the Lord has blessed me. Have faith. How eternally thankful I am for my grandparents, their enduring examples and unwavering love.

Disneyland was a hustle but so fun. Rayleigh was tall enough for the big kid rides but we chose not to go on any. She wasn't into it. I nursed Ella on the train and in Haunted Mansion. She was perfect all day! It was hot and we brought a lot of snacks. I think Rayleigh loved feeding the ducks most of all!

The group shot before we left Parker to mark on his Disneyland educational journey!

She stopped to admire the Indian on Main Street. When she was done I wanted to tell her to say, "Goodbye Indian!" but there was legitimately a group of Indians from India standing right next to us. So I thought, "Maybe not."

Our first stop was It's A Small World After All because it's everyone's favorite!

We ran into Beauty and the Best and Rayleigh said, "Hi Anna/Elsa!" And Belle replied, "Im Belle, sweetheart." She was kinda bratty about it! ha ha

Tea Cups are another favorite!

No one is ever home at the rabbit's house!

One last ride for the birthday girl before heading home. She is pure joy!

We left Nanny with Ella and Jack. Looks like Jack was a little tired. Ella was giving Nanny some big time smiles. Such a magical moment.

Can't get enough of his lollipops!

Geppetto stopped by to say hello and wish Happy Birthday to Rayleigh

Disneyland is one of our all time favorite places! I'm so glad I could share this magical day with my mom and that Ella could see the beautiful castle for the first time at 6 weeks old! Just kidding. I had anxiety the entire time taking my tiny unvaccinated infant to Disneyland. But we survived!!!!
