4th of July 2018
I cannot spend the 4th of July away from Provo and not feel tremendous remorse. This year, with the holiday falling on a Wednesday and Tanner just not being able to take THAT much time off work, we decided to stay home on the 4th. Lucky for us, Jill decided to throw a huge backyard pool party BBQ with all our friends and it KINDA made up for the fact that we weren't in Utah.
We had a blast swimming and playing with our friends. Parker made patriotic fruit skewers and we had our tradition fried chicken for lunch. It was a very relaxing day which was nice because we were coming down off our Mammoth/Yosemite high.
That evening, we found some old cheesy fireworks (snakes and sparklers) and shot them off in the front yard. Our dear, sweet children were thrilled. Easy to please.
But it was all fun and games until the wind blew a fragment of a sparkler into Parker's eye. He was screaming in agony and we were't sure what the heck was going on (was his eye on fire? whatever it was, it needed to get washed out.) so we made him jump into the pool fully clothed. We got him out and he was still "dying" so we settled him down enough to look into his eye and sure enough, we found a piece. I grabbed some q-tips and was able to get it out and after a few minutes of it still bothering him, we found another fragment and got it out too.
Never a dull moment. He will now forever be phobic about sparklers. ha ha
It was a nice day but nothing compares to Provo. We sure missed being up there.
I stole a few pictures from my family of the reunion at JoAnn's house at the river bottoms. Josi couldn't make it to Utah either but had fun with her boys in Vegas. And Jon and Cami took their families on a hike to Stewart Falls. Sooooo epic! AND, my Aunt Kaylynn and Uncle Dick and cousin Brady were there too. So sad to have missed all of that but there's always next year!
I love the 4th of July and I love FREEDOM!
