San Diego Day

GO BIG OR GO HOME!
For months I've been wanting to do a San Diego Day with Tanner and the day finally came! I had planned a romantic date with him the night before and he got home too late for us to execute that plan so he was feeling extra guilty- which works in my favor. But in all honesty, we were all stoked for the day's adventures!
We started off with breakfast burritos, a full tank of gas, and a car wash before driving down to San Diego. The kids were great in the car and the best little adventurers. We had free tickets to the New Children's Museum so we stopped there first. It was awesome! There was so much to do and see! We all ran around and explored for about 2 hours before slowing down enough to leave and go to lunch.
We went to Islands which is our favorite and the kids were super well behaved! We never take the family out to eat because it's hard but they did great and everyone was happy with their yummy food! We drove by the temple and showed the kids where we were married almost 15 years ago and bore a simple, quick testimony of the sacredness of temples.
We then went to La Jolla and felt super proud of ourselves for finding free parking on a busy Saturday! Tanner had been seeing there electronic scooters everywhere that you access with an app so he rode the scooter down to our next destination while I walked with the kids. (Cuz I'm a nice wife and also super hard core) Sunny Jim caves is something straight out of the movie Goonies! A hand carved tunnel leaving to a sea cave built over 100 year ago as a way to smuggle in alcohol. Talk about RAD! We all loved it! We walked around the beautiful cliffs over looking the La Jolla coves and tried to soak up the scene before heading to our next adventure!
We drove north for a few minutes to Solana Beach and took a hike to Annie's Canyon- a unique slot canyon right by the ocean! This hike blew me away- IT WAS SO COOL! The kids did great and loved seeing all the wild life along the way. The slot was a fun challenge and everyone felt to awesome when we got to the top! The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I was so proud of my little family by the end of the day!
We felt that we deserved a special treat to enjoy on the way home so we grabbed some Handels Homemade Ice Cream and drove up the 5 so we could enjoy the beautiful sunset over the water.
Days like these are my ultimate favorite. Going from adventure to adventure, challenging the kids and making memories- nothing can compare!
I love this amazing family of mine!!!!

Braving the orthodontist with all 4 kids.... ugh. But we made it!
