The First Half of February
The day after we arrived home from Etna, it was back to life as usual. Tuesday the kids have after school clubs: Rubix Cube for Jack and Girls Who Code for Ray. Ella and I hang out in my classroom and it’s makes for a nice Tuesday afternoon. Jack had Activity Days and we got all unpacked and settled at home.
Wednesday we had a guy come look at our oven which is now broken. Everything keeps breaking!!!! Ughhh But I left it all behind and went to BookClub at my Mom’s. I left a little early to see Tara’s new house in Laguna Beach which is SO cute! It was so fun chatting with her. I just love her so much!!! Bookclub was awesome (my mom stayed home because she is fighting a little cold and still recovering from the big travel weekend). But Angel came and that adds so much to it for me. Love my BFF! Thursday was MCO and of course I set up cones RIGHT when there was a sudden down pour.
Friday, we had a play date at the park after school and then Tanner and I had a date to the Newport Beach Temple and met my parents there. We finally had a chance to talk and catch up during the drive and we decided only he would fly to Idaho to attend Uncle Rob’s funeral. Apparently Monte had called Tanner to inform him of Kim’s sensitivities right now. She has been picking fights and choosing to be offended with those around her and he didn’t want us getting hurt in the crossfire. I was disappointed to hear this but wanted to be supportive. I was really looking forward to a weekend with family so I’m sad.
But, we had a tiny miracle happen at the temple! We ran into Shannon Cotton and straight out of her lips was, “oh! My favorite people!” And I told her about how I’ve been obsessing over a road trip through the UK and she said, “ Well tell me when you’re planning to go and I’ll let you stay at our house!” The amount of joy I felt when she said that cannot be measured! How generous and kind!!! I was soooo excited and an happily planning our road trip- whenever that happens to be.
Saturday, I dropped Tanner off at Vangie’s and they flew to Miami for a work conference. He’ll fly back late Thursday night and then leave again on Friday for Idaho. Byeeee. Rayleigh juiced a TON of lemons and Jack and Ella played with a box. We got Panda Express for dinner because it’s Chinese New Year and watched a movie about a magic dragon (because it’s the year of the dragon). Man, I love these kids!!!
Sunday was the Super Bowl but we never even turned the TV on. We went to church and had chicken n rice. The kids played outside for hours. We made Valentines for our classmates and Parker set up the projector in the garage for a fun movie night. We had ice cream and Cheetos and it was fun!
We have very busy week next week without Tanner. But it will be so fun and I hope Tanner finds a lot of success while he’s away!
