Last Day of School
We made it! It's the last day of school! I asked the kids if they were excited for the last few days of school when we were traveling home from New York and Jack and Ella didn't want to go back... but Ray said she DID! So that made me happy. They all had fun stuff going on each day and I helped in Jack's class when they had an end of the year party. It's officially Summer and nice and hot! Yay!
But, on the very last day of school, Ella had a fever and just couldn't go to school. She threw up and totally has what Jack had. We had no choice but to leave her home alone. I went home and checked on her at 9:30 and then Jill and Haley really stepped up for me and both of them ran over and checked on her, too. Tanner came home around 11:45 to see her and I was home around 12:30. I made her a cozy wagon to rest in while we all went to the end of the year C track party. We had the best turn out yet and it was so fun! So many kids and moms showed up and we had a ton of food. Ella did great and we all had a wonderful time. Amazing Shannon hired the Kona Ice truck which totally hit the spot on that hot day.
This school year has been the most challenging yet (emotionally) and I'm proud of my kids' resilience and our determination to forgive and become better. We've really relied on each other and our Savior. It is my hope and prayer that Jack has a better 4th grade year than Ray did and that Ray does ok in 5th grade. I know it will be hard at times, but we've learned a lot and can take that knowledge and those skills and pray for better outcomes.
Parker had one day to rest and do laundry before he left for Trek with the stake. He went up to Riley farms and hiked 7 miles the first day and 3 the next 2 days. He had a great experience and a new found appreciation for our pioneer ancestors. This kid is on fire and I'm so proud of him and anxious to see where his path leads him these next few months!
One week of Summer break and then school starts again. We are looking forward to our respite in the mountains of Sundance. Bye bye 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade!
