The Blue Lantern Inn

Tanner and I celebrated 10 years of marital bliss by spending the night at the Inn where we spent our wedding night. My Mom was remembering how, the morning after our wedding night we had to fly to Mexico (which is a horrendous story all on it's own- the getting to the airport part). But, we had to leave in such a rush that I asked my Mom to pick up my wedding dress and Tanner's tux from our hotel room- Not even thinking that would maybe by a little weird. Now I get it, but at the time the thought never even occurred to me that that would be awkward. ha ha But to make matters WORSE my parents had to drive us to LAX so my GRANDMA and my uncle were the ones to take the hotel key, open up the door, and pick up my dress and Tanner's tux strewn about the room! ha ha Oh man, what was I thinking. Anyhoo, clearly we had a fabulous time at the Blue Lantern Inn and were excited to go back and spend more time there. We stayed there for our first anniversary and wanted to make it an anniversary tradition but it just hadn't worked out until now. It was PERFECT. Except for the fact that, oh ya, we have a 6 month old baby now. We didn't get much sleep and it wan'ts terribly relaxing but we did manage to enjoy our time there. 

We arrived right at check in and indulged in some cheese and crackers and other "tea time" snacks. Then we took a walk around the harbor with the kids before my parents came to pick up Parker. They had been working in the temple that day. We showed them around our beautiful room and after they left we ordered Thai take out for dinner. We sat in bed (oh so quietly because they baby was asleep) and ate our food and watched HGTV. Super romantic, right? We opened up the patio door and lit the fire in the hearth and fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the cool sea breeze.

But then, 

the baby woke up and would not settle down. Oh man, she's just the best thing in my life but taking an infant to your hotel for your anniversary is not really the most brilliant idea. I spent the night cuddling my tiny sweetheart meanwhile my giant sweetheart slept soundly. Alone. :-)

The next morning we ate the most delicious "cottage style" breakfast with fresh fruit and quiche and all sorts of goodies. We took our time getting ready and relishing the fabulous bathroom amenities and snapped a few pictures as we strolled around the property.

Silly girl. She's happy even though she was awake half the night. How could we ever get upset with his face?

Hopefully it's not 10 year before we have the opportunity to enjoy the Blue Lantern again. And hopefully next time we can enjoy it sans kids!
