Quarantine

This week brought to you by ZOOM! Rayleigh was able to see and speak to her class via ZOOM, I loved doing a few HIGH fitness classes with Courtney and all of my dear friends who I miss so much, and on Saturday, took a HIGH class with Kaitlin in Idaho and my mother and sisters in law, I was able to tune into an institute class taught by President Tolley, and on Sunday I was able to participate in a Relief Society lesson and a Stake Meeting where our wonderful Stake Presidency enlightened us and gave us peace and direction regarding these perilous times.

We also did a lot of cooking and baking. I made a big pot of homemade spaghetti sauce with fresh tomatoes and mushrooms, and a big pot of creamy tomato basil soup. When we ate the spaghetti, Rayleigh and I made homemade spaghetti noodles which was fun! I made Aunt Jane’s rice crispy treats for dessert but the REAL treat was that Tanner was able to join us for dinner!

We have been surviving and thriving during this quarantine. Each day we drive to the school to pick up a sack lunch and a couple of times we met Jill and Courtney at the soccer fields to have a “picnic”. Of course, in obeying protocol, we don’t leave our vehicles. So my kids sit ON TOP of the car! I’ve been reading a lot, trying to work on getting caught up on my Ensigns and reading 4 books from my bedside table stack as well as keeping up with my audio books in Libby, and most especially listening to the Book of Mormon before General Conference. The kids have been playing so nicely and don’t EVER complain about quarantine. Parker is slowly but surely getting his homeschool curriculum completed. I had to take his LEGOS away, but I promised him that if he got all caught up before Jack’s birthday that I would return his LEGOS to him and buy him a new one to work on during our lock down.
The kids have been playing with their new (and old) playdough outside (where it makes a giant mess- I so DISLIKE playdough) painting in the garage, and playing all kinda of games and puzzles. Sweet Billie came to my rescue once again and delivered a giant box of play dough and coloring stuff! Can you believe, so many things on Amazon aren't available and you can say goodbye to free 2 day shipping! (First world problems)

A few highlights from this week were 1) The birth of Jana’s twin baby girls! She is stationed in Germany as her husband is in the military. He was able to be there for the birth but couldn’t stay due to COVID-19 restrictions. She delivered one baby head down and the other one feet down! She’s amazing. She named the girls Claire and Gwen and both babies are doing remarkably well. I’m so proud of and happy for my first friend! She now has 5 daughters!!!!
Another highlight was when Jill dropped off a plate of treats for us! It’s the little things that are truly making a difference for us (and everyone) right now! And my mom has sent me a few old pictures of her and my dad and what a pleasure it is to see them! I need to work more on my family history and do one indexing!
The week was going fine until Tanner received word that one of his patients tested positive for Corona Virus and passed away. All hell broke lose and we haven’t seen him since. On Saturday, everyone in his facility and many of his staff were tested. We are waiting results and Tanner is pretty terrified. It doesn’t help that the media have been swarming his building and report half truths. But, I have all the faith in the world!
The Prophet asked us to fast and pray for the world during this pandemic and to also consider a generous fast offering. It was an honor to participate, turn my thoughts to my Savior and pray with fervent intent. I know we will be blessed as a family, as a church, and as a suffering world as we put our faith in Him. On Saturday night, a member of our wants, Michael Sweet, drove over 2 of his RVs to Tanner’s building so yay the nurses who are still working (most have abandoned ship) would have a place to rest and recuperate between shifts. Before he left, he stopped by our house to pick up a bag that I had packed for Tanner as he was anticipating not coming home for the foreseeable future- pending his test results. When I walked outside to set his bag on the porch I saw, written in chalk, a note that read, “We LOVE you!” I hadn’t noticed it before and it came at the precise time I needed it most. It was from Jill when she brought the treats. I don’t know how I didn’t see it before, but it was truly a message from an angel.
And speaking of angels, Scottie G dropped off a gallon of milk, some bananas, and chocolate on Sunday night- right when we ran out and I was needing milk for bedtime. Who knew a gallon of milk and some bananas would mean so much. But these small acts of service have meant SO much to me. I know I am not forgotten. I know the Lord is not leaving us comfortless. He is at the forefront of our lives, directing our paths, and watching over our journey. I feel like one of the virgins who had oil in her lamp. I feel prepared. I feel protected. We are happy. We are healthy. We have nothing to fear for He is with us.
