San Diego Zoo for Earth Day
Way back in October, when we tried to take Rayleigh on a special trip to San Diego which ended terribly, we were given tickets to the Zoo and today we finally used them!
It was Earth Day so the park was super crowded, but we are used to Disney crowds so it didn't bother us. The Spring weather was perfect and we had a great time wandering the park all day. Jack brought his sketchbook to draw some animals and had his heart set on the flamingos all day. We stopped by the elephants to sketch, though, and so many people walked by Jack and stopped to admire his work! I told the kids I did NOT want to see any reptiles but they made be go see them anyway! Lame! Rayleigh loved the aviary. The chimps were CRAZY and quite inappropriate. We ended the day riding the sky tram which everyone loved.
We got Juanitas for dinner and ice cream for dessert. Tanner stuck his foot right into his big fat mouth while I was bathing suit shopping online and I was mad at him for the rest of the day. Apparently, he doesn't understand how offensive/sexist/inappropriate he can be.
Before that though, we had a super good time at the Zoo and it was fun to discover "new" animals with the kids and witness the wonder in their eyes. We enjoyed a beautiful day outside in the sunshine and made some amazing memories!
