First Day in NYC
All Parker wanted for a special birthday dinner was McDonald's but since the power was off in Coudersport our local McDonald's was closed! We made up for it in New York....
FAO Schwarz! Awesome!
Hogwarts
So fun playing with all the toys!
"What are you going to pick out for your birthday, Parker?"
I think we found a winner! Birthday money well spent!
Handsome.
Alice in Wonderland Statue
Bet you didn't know there was a castle in Central Park, did you?
Rockefeller Center
Holly made us a delicious pancake and eggs breakfast this morning before we headed back on the road on our adventure!!!
It took about 3 hours to drive to NYC. We got checked into our hotel, Pod 51, and were pleasantly surprised to see that our bunk bed/shared-bathroom-down-the- hall hotel room is really not that bad and in a great location! It took us 15 minutes to walk to FAO Schwartz. That was the first stop and we let Parker go to town running around and playing with everything and picking something out with his birthday money. He chose Legos and he and tanner put them together tonight. He was stoked. He played on the BIG piano and it was like a dream come true. I should have hopped on there!!! Maybe we'll go back tomorrow. ;-)
From there we crossed the street and made our way to central park. We walked around the zoo (not IN the zoo, but it was still cool). We saw all the cool fountains and bridges that you see in the movies. It was a beautiful time in the park- raining lightly. So fresh and quiet. And HUGE! Who knew? Such a respite from the busy, bustling city. We got hot dogs and a soft pretzel from a vendor. We enjoyed some live music and really enjoyed central park a lot! On our way back down to our hotel we checked out Rockefeller center and the huge Lego store. Parker is so excited to go to legoland in December. Holy cow! Perfect age! We grabbed some Thai take out and brought it up to our room. We were pooped! We all took long hot showers (showers, though they are shared with a few other rooms, are really nice. Rain shower head and a few others squirting your back and such) now we are relaxing and enjoying the Olympics. It's been KILLING me to miss watching them everyday! I'm hoping and praying we can watch recaps online or something.
Whelp, tomorrow is another full day of NYC! Statue of liberty here we come!
Love you!!!! Xoxoxo
