Parker's 5th Birthday!

Parker's birthday this year was a little anti climatic. The night before a huge storm rolled through our little town and knocked down a tons of trees and power lines  Even smashed homes and cars! The storm only lasted a few minutes but it was crazy and we were lucky we didn't die- we happened to be driving straight through the heart of it as it blew through town. The next morning we woke up and the power was still off. It was off until 6 o'clock that  night! No swimming lesson. No library.  No lights. No TV. And NO CAKE! How could I bake my sweet little 5 year old a birthday cake with NO power! I was crushed but Parker seemed not to mind. I was seriously stumped as to what to do with my little man on his special day. We didn't really know anyone- let alone kids to invite to any sort of celebration. We had no money for toys and gifts. And all the poor kid wanted was McDonald's for a birthday meal out but even they were closed due to the power outage. Luckily we received a package from Grammy and Papa and THAT was quite a thrill and a great birthday surprise. Parker LOVED being thought of and remembered on his special day. We got to talk to grandparents on the phone and hear all the sweet birthday messages. But, it was a low key day for sure.

So excited to open the gift from Grammy! Clothes and some birthday money to spend at FAO Schwartz

We played T ball outside before it rained....

And I hooked smoke bombs to his bike and had him pedal really fast (like Jon used to do to me and Josi's bikes). He thought that was AWESOME!

When the power FINALLY came back on we screamed with joy and ran into the house to make my sweet boy some cup cakes! We had mac and cheese and watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and got ready for our epic east coast road trip.

Yay!!! So happy for power and CUPCAKES!!!!
Parker Steven Peterson is the best thing that ever happened to me.  I love this kid so much it hurts. He means everything to me and I'm so lucky to me his Mom. I love that he's my pal. We have such a good time together and have such a special bond. He's so incredibly sweet and sensitive  He's such a good sharing boy and loves to make friends. He's funny and has the BEST laugh. You can tickle him without even touching him.  He's so smart and extremely fast at absorbing information. We can't keep up with this kid's pace for learning! He thinks the best of every one and has a great attitude. He loves race cars and jets. He talks daily about his birthday and who he wants to invite to his party. Every kid he  meets he invites to this TBD "party". Parker blesses my life in a new way each and every day and I can't imagine life without him. He is my only sonshine and I'm so proud of him! Happy 5th Birthday Parker!!! xoxoxo
