Mexico Day 5: Xenotes

 We felt good today and the adventure was amazing! The Xenotes shuttle picked us up right at our hotel at 9:25am and we were off!

We explored 5 Xenotes today and enjoyed a different activity at each one.

We started at Ha which is Mayan for water. We donned snorkel masks and did a beautiful dive through a deep and clear Xenote. We then kayaked down a portion of the river with beautiful steep walls surrounding us. Tanner went with Rayleigh and Jack and Ella went with me. Ella did a great job paddling!

We then took a mid morning snack break and enjoyed some thick Mexican hot chocolate and pastries. Yum! We geared up again for more zip lining but this time we either sat on a swing or held onto a bar and flew through the air into the water. This cenote was called “air”. Rayleigh and Jack were so brave to try the Spider-Man pose and hang upside down. I preferred the princess pose and sat on the swing like a proper lady. Ella was super brave too and everyone had a great time. We were able to do that 3 times before heading over to the next cenote- Earth because we had to repel down into the Earth to access it. The water was cool and clear and blue. The kids loved repelling and then jumping off the high rock over and over again.

We enjoyed a jungle lunch in the palapa and felt really good after that- we were hungry!

The last cenote was called fire (I think) and we started off sliding down a water slide and then hanging onto the bar and flying down into the cenote and then swimming down the river (which was so beautiful) and jumping off the high rock. The kids loved this and did it over and over again.

It was a super cool day adventuring in Xenotes and I don’t think the kids are gonna quite understand what vacations are in the future because we play so hard every day when we go as a family. Work hard, play hard. When we got home from Xenotes, we swam in the resort pool which is the largest in Latin America. The water was warm and the pool was empty and it felt so good to just be still for a minute. We made dinner back at the room and showered off to get ready for bed. We have another action packed day tomorrow and we can’t wait!
