River House: Part 2

Today we spent the whole day at the River House. 

Jack was like one of Peter Pan's Lost Boys. He was filthy from his head to his toes and enjoying all that childhood has to offer with reckless abandon. He built forts and traps, played make believe and floated down the river. Rayleigh tried her hand at fishing while the cousins tried to make their own fishing lines. She floated down the freezing cold river with Tanner and warmed up in the hot tub. Ella was living her best life with endless attention from her big girl cousins and Parker and his fellow teen, Anna, stayed inside and played card games for hours. Parker also baked chocolate chip cookies which everyone devoured. Anna is cousin Chris' only child and Jon invited her to spend the 4th of July with the Bullock clan and learn more about where her Dad came from. She is an awesome girl and I'm so glad we were able to spend time with her.

The day started off with a community pancake breakfast and parade and the resort crew set up a slip-n-slide for the kids. Ella ran around with her big girl cousins and loved feeding the baby ducks. Matt grilled us up some tasty tacos and street corn. We made a fire and roast s'mores again. The kids were in and out of the cold river and hot tub. The Heber Creeper chugged by a few times and it was always fun seeing my favorite, the caboose. 

Rayleigh started feeling sick at the end of the day and was crying with a head-ache. I gave her some Tylenol and she fell asleep at 6:30 and slept for 15 hours. She felt much better the next day. My parents hung out for dinner and watched the kids explore and play and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Jon took off in the evening to go see the Stadium of Fire fireworks from a park. Tanner and Parker were both invited to perform with MCO at the Freedom Festival but it would have been biting off a little more than we could chew. We were bummed to miss it but it worked out since Rayleigh wasn't feeling well. 

Josi and her family stayed for the outdoor movie and us adults sat and talked around the fire while the kids ate treats and popcorn and LOVED the movie.
