Easter 2023
Easter was really nice this year. (Minus Tanner being awful on Saturday morning because he's not feeling well and didn't want to go to the Easter Egg hunt and Rayleigh told everyone he had high blood pressure- Don't worry, he's seen a doctor and his on medication now). Anyhoo, we gathered in the morning, colored eggs, had an epic hunt, played games, and then spent the afternoon swimming in the sunshine. Jon ordered us all pizza which was so nice!
Another awkward moment was when a black mother came up to me and told me that Rayleigh had said something to her daughters about "Lucky Martin Luther King Jr made it so you could come to the pool." I was mortified but that sweet woman sat down with me and took the time to "seek first to understand, then be understood." And while we are on the topic of awkward things with your kids: the bishop texted both me and Tanner about Parker giving Kaelyn's number to Noah and he was texted her non stop and being annoying and "inappropriate". So, Tanner clapped back with "maybe we'll just move". But then BAM! Guess what??? Jill and Paul are moving to St George in like 2 months! Plot twist!
Anyhoo, it's a good thing Easter was so pleasant and drama free (with family... besides Tanner) because man, that was really unfortunate.
I love Easter and everything we are reminded of during this beautiful and sacred time. Parker didn't go to church on Easter because he wasn't feeling well and Tanner barely made it. But the meeting was nice (no 2nd hour) and the primary kids sang which was really sweet. We had a pretty chill Easter afternoon.
The Easter bunny hid eggs filled with money around our house! Score! And everyone got chocolate bunnies and some goodies.
All in all I'd call it a successful Easter! I'm glad we focused so much on Christ's atonement and resurrection throughout the week when we were reading each night. It is a miracle that we should always ponder in our hearts and I know that with our Savior's infinite gift, we can be filled with peace and joy, despite life's stumbling blocks.
