New Baby Nash and Noah's Baptism

Our new little nephew, Nash Travis Nelson was born on Wednesday the 28th at 4:23. He was only 4 pounds 13 ounces and was delivered via emergency C section. We are so happy he is here and apparently, today is Bridger's birthday too! AND, Cami's sister in law, Heather, had her baby, Jack, today too! Busy and blessed day!

On Thursday, we had a lovely, rainy day. We all cuddled up and I was able to read my entire book for Book Club, Jacob T Marley. I snuggled with the kids on the couch and they watched TV. We haven't had a rainy day in forever and it was so nice to open up the windows and let all that fresh, cool air in! We had some thunder and lightening around dinner time which freaked Parker out. But it was nice to slip away and go to Book Club after I got the kids to bed. I always love the great discussions we have.

Friday, my mom and I attended the MCO production of A Child is Born at the Segerstrom. It was incredible. I was completely blown away. From the composition and arrangements to the powerful delivery, it was impressive and breathtaking from start to finish. I kept thinking, "You can DO that?" The composers and conductors completely push the limits and it's awe inspiring. I wished it could have started all over the moment it was done. Music has a tremendous ability to invoke such strong emotions. And this collection of work was unparalleled. The second song was an original and I was bawling throughout. I can't even begin to tell you why. Something so strong was stirred inside me.

It was so nice being there with my mom- just the 2 of us. We ran into so many dear friends and the whole experience was just heavenly. We went to dinner at a yummy fish place and talked and talked.

I brought Parker with me and dropped him off at my parent's house and while I was out with my mom, my Dad took Parker out to eat at Ruby's and supervised while he baked 2 bunt cakes for Noah's baptism (2 bunt cakes placed side by side to look like an "8"). He was stoked to spend the night over there and my dad was so sweet to chat with him about movies and astronomy and pop culture. Parker is lucky to have such rad grandparents!

Saturday was Noah's baptism. Tanner and I had to tag team with our not so reverent children out in the hall. But when we all gathered near the font, Jack surprised me when his whole demeanor changed. I sat down and told him over and over that the warm feeling in his heart was the Holy Ghost. My greatest work as a mother is teaching my children how to recognize the spirit. No easy task! Rayleigh was excellent and sat with her older cousins. I said the opening prayer and played some prelude music which I was happy to do! It was just family in the room for the baptism and it truly felt a little bit like heaven. We are so proud of Noah and admire the cute kid he's grown up to be!

We all went to the park by my parent's house for a little picnic after and we stayed for 5 hours. Tanner had to leave and go to work to prepare for survey but it was so nice being outside in the fresh air and watching the cousins all play. They made up games and had foot races and played sardines. Rayleigh spent some time collecting leaves and putting them into a huge pile. It was just adorable and the kids were so great. I don't think they have ever, ever had a fight between any of them. They love each other so much! My parents have truly blessed us with raising such compassionate, loving, positive children and grandchildren!

Today at church, the nursery leader gave the first lesson of Christmas. She does such a good job and I love being in there. I've been taking pictures of the nursery children for a special gift for their families. Kim has been asking for some updated pictures of my kids, too, so I bribed them with ice cream and took them out back for a quick photo shoot. Tanner had to work after we got home from church and had chicken and rice, otherwise we would have tried to take a family picture, too. But I think these turned out pretty cute!

It's December 2nd and we've already gotten off to a great start for the Christmas season. I'm excited to Light the World!
