Cruise Day 5: Swimming with Dolphins in Cozumel

 We set an alarm to wake up so we could eat breakfast before getting off the ship and it all worked out nicely. We slept well and everyone was good in the morning. We took a taxi to Chankabab Park and it could not have been a more perfect day. The weather was idyllic. Warm and sunny and the water was so clear and blue. We enjoyed a bit to eat at the little buffet before the BIG adventure for the day- swimming with dolphins!! We had the pleasure of interacting with a dolphin named Olympia. She kissed our checks and we danced with her. We patted her belly and stroked her back. We even got to see her swim under water with snorkel masks. It was amazing!

We laid out on the beach and the kids loved the hammocks. We misplaced Ella for a little bit but she was in a different hammock. We ate a little more yummy Mexican food and then decided to head back to the ship.

Jack really wanted to go back to Ocean Adventure so we said we’d meet him back at the room at 5:00 for dinner. The only problem was that he couldn’t check himself out because it was a port day. We all forgot that detail so he was stuck in there until someone called us and he was not too happy. It was not as good of a time as it was the day before and he had regrets about going there. So I took him to get ice cream (2!) and he was fine after that. But he was bummed that he missed out on water slide time. So the kids decided to go back to the pools and water slides to play and we made a plan to meet up at 8:30 to get ready for the water show at 10:00. Tanner and I went to a family game event and hung out in the karaoke bar again. We had a great time! And so did the kids. The girls joined us for dinner before meeting up with Jack and we watched the sunset over the water as we ate. It was beautiful!

The pools close at 8pm so when we got back to the room, the kids were already there. They had a great time and Ella, of course, made a friend. We got ready for the aqua show and headed there early for good seats. The show was sooo cool! The cast was full of champions and young people who are passionate about their craft. Aqua dancers, motorcycle stunt men, professional divers- it was amazing! We sat right in the front and many of the cast members high fived the kids.

It was late by the time the show was over and the kids were tired so they went up to our room while Tanner and I filled up my water bottle and got pizza. On our way back, we ran into a millennial dance party! I surprised myself by knowing almost every word to every song they played.

Back at the room, we got ready for bed and I read another chapter of the book we are reading together. Sleep never felt so good!
