Cruise Day 6: Jungle Adventures in Roatan
Everyone was sleepy this morning but we had to get up and grab breakfast at the Windjammer before meeting our guide who would be showing us around Roatan. After getting off the boat, we easily found Francisco and away we went in our private car! He took us to the sloth and monkey sanctuary where we held a monkey, had a macaw stand on our shoulders, and pet a sloth! The monkeys were so cute and crazy! The kids loved them. And the sloth was adorable and really as slow moving as people say they are.
From there, we were able to donate the school supplies to kids at a local school. They were so happy to receive new crayons and markers and it made us feel good to share and do a little service. Honduras is POOR and I hope the kids see how fortunate they are to have all that they have. Next, we grabbed a bite to eat at a local quick stop place- nothing special. After lunch, the wind started to pick up and the snorkel conditions were not ideal. So we drove to the other side of the island and hopped on our own little private snorkel boat with our guide and swam in the warm Caribbean Sea and saw SO many cool fish! It was amazing!
There was a lot going on back at the ship when we returned. An ocean parade, lovely sit down dinner, a beautiful sunset, and the Price is Right! Tanner was chosen to go on stage and ALMOST won a car! Instead, he won some cruise cash and money to spend at the casino. What a thrill! We grabbed some late night pizza and went to bed a little earlier than usual to prepare for a very early wake up call.
